50 tomorrow

Okay I guess this will be my shoulder to cry on... and for the next 365 days I'll do my best to write every day.

I'm not sure just how I'm feeling about my 50th birthday. Seems kind of strange.
I never thought I'd make it to 25 much less 40, so with my birthday looming upon me I'm trying to reflect back on the last 47 years..

I can remember making mud-pies in the back yard of Iola; having my foot cut by the lawn mower(according to my sister I was 4 going to be 5); going to Iola thru Tomball to get a "tombalt"(malt); going to town with Papa on Saturday mornings; staying with Mema & Pawpaw out on the river(Brazos); David playing basket ball using a coffee can for a basket; Mema and the pullup quilt square in the living room; Pawpaw's baby blue Dodge Dart, & the white 66 Chevy Impala that he drover after we went to Egypt;

Oh the list is long but I'll post a little everyday...

Don't know what tomorrow will bring, but I'm ready for it. I don't feel 50, but I'm very apprehensive about the next 30 days.

Stated better than me

As Ezra Klein so elequently put it:

I can assure you, I will be voting Democratic this year, and I'm pretty sure my husband will too.....

Here's a thought about those bees?

I was sitting outside last night, Saturday, & next to the bench are our recycle bags of aluminum cans & it occurred to me, as I would hope it has to someone else, that:
could the bee colonies be being over indulged in high fructose corn syrup from all the drinks/food/etc. that it is in? and if so could this be a contributing factor to the disappearing colonies? I'm hopeful that someone alot smarter than me has already asked & answered that question.

I'm off tomorrow, but I'm going to be busy---- I need to takt the SRX the dealer re: a little problem, then to Kolh's &/or Dillard's then soneplace else-- i have it written down in my book-- then to meet Renee for lunch at Carrabbas... she turns 50 on Tuesday. Happy Birthday Renee...

I scanned in a bunch of pictures this afternoon & I might post one of me as a profile pic--- at least one that isn't too revealing in my identify..

I haven't read any news so this will be short... at least until I read the weekend scribs posts...

Another Summer, come & gone

Another summer, come & gone. It hasn't been a very interesting summer-- maybe in political terms, yes, but otherwise, no. The oil spill has been plugged, and the economy as a whole is sputtering, but it has been very quiet.

However, I would like someone to explain to me why I am not an American if:
I believe that our President is legitimate(born in Hawaii);
I'm not as certain as some of who my religious Saviour is;
I think gun control is better than no gun control;
I want the gov't & religious crazies OUT OF MY DOCTORS OFFICE;
I think the current administration is doing a better job than the previous one;
I think that 40% of the "educated" population of this country is stupid, 30% are ignorant & the rest of us can't get a word in edgewise;
I don't think "common sense solutions" will get us out of the current recession;
I think tax breaks for the rich don't work;

I'm an American, just like the other 320 million of us--- and as patriotic as the girl next door, but for the GOP/RNC/TeaParty-ers, et al, to think they have the "traditional" American way of life it presumptuous at best & nazi-like at worst.

Do any of these so-called Republicans realize how far right these people are in their political thinking? A bit further to the right of them is Hitler; and further right of him is Stalin. As good as the GOP/RNC might think they are, the left is better at controlled anarchy. And that is apparently what the "right" wants

We as the "left", and center left, need to get out this November, IN DROVES!
